Our Story

At Dar Ne'meh, we envision a world where women are empowered to pursue their passions and achieve economic independence, while preserving the rich cultural heritage of their communities.

Our mission at Dar Ne'meh is to empower women throughout Jordan by providing them with comprehensive training and a dynamic platform to showcase their exceptional talents in culinary arts and crafts. We celebrate and preserve the rich heritage of local traditions, enabling these women to generate a sustainable income and build successful businesses. Through access to local and international markets, we help these women unlock their full potential and pave the way for a brighter future for themselves and their communities.

A project by the Princess Taghrid Institute for Development and Training (PTI). Dar Ne’meh is a hub for supporting local Jordanian home based businesses (HBB’s) and entrepreneurial projects.

Our story began when one of our beneficiaries was traveling through Tanzania and saw how the women across the country would use any opportunity to generate an income for their families. One of the main ways they did this was through processing and re-selling unwanted food. This inspired our first project for reducing food wastage in Ghor Safi (an agricultural area in South Jordan). We trained a group of women in food processing including dried tomatoes, pickles and jams from 2nd and 3rd grade crops. We named the project Ne’meh.

Ne’meh means bliss, from the phrase

Ne’mat Allah - God’s blessing (for food).

We then wanted to provide a space for these women and other HBB’s from across the Kingdom to sell their food and handcrafts. This led us to launch a project called Souq Ne’meh (Ne’meh market) - a seasonal market space held on weekends over the summer months. Through the success of our Ne’meh projects we dreamt of a location that would provide these HBB’s the opportunity to generate an income all year round. This is were are our Dar Ne'meh locations were born. A productive hub for women to produce and sell their crafts.
